"How do we win back our liberty"\

A mom barrades herself inside her house with a gun to prevent the state from taking her child. A man, in continual conflict with a predatory IRS, flies a plane into an IRS building. A man fed up with nit-picky rules, regulations, and fines, takes a gun to a city council meeting and shoots council members and the mayor. A man and woman, believing their money is their own, use weapons to prevent a small army of police from taking them into custody for tax evasion. In all cases, the citizens who took the violent route failed to achieve anything positive. They lashed out without hope of changing anything for the better, without hope of winning,...without hope at all. It was, in fact, the lack of hope that drove them to ultimately futile violent acts. And they ended up dead or incarcerated. There is no example in the U.S., or at least none I can think of, of a successful violent challenge to any government apparatus. The governments admittedly initiated the original acts of violence through their decrees and bureaucrats backed up by gun-wielding police. The rare violent response by a citizen has always been countered by overwhelming force intended to achieve compliance at any cost, including death. When advocates of liberty are made aware of these authoritarian acts, they talk of proper and effective responses that should have or could have been used. One common thread is to talk about the necessity of working through the system to change laws and get control of run-away government, or to initiate non-violent civil disobedience. Another equally common thread is to talk about countering violence with violence, the Second Amendment, and spearheading a new American revolution. Neither line of thought is entirely satisfactory. The non-violent approach has failed for 200 years to stem the growth of government and the police state. The U.S. government has blatantly ignored individual and mass protests. The great Vietnam War protests failed to move our government to end the war. No protest in the last 10 years has changed government policies one iota. Indeed, even peaceful protests have been suppressed by lines of black-clad-overstuffed-ninja-turtle police. Think Pittsburgh. Non-violence= failure. The violent approach has also failed, as the government has the resources to bring overwhelming force to bear upon any group or individual that tries to challenge it with force. This approach not only fails, but fails epicly, as the participants are no longer free, or alive, to fight another day. The question "How do we win back our liberty" seems to have no viable answer. Violence, as well as non-violence, fails. Or do they? Perhaps it is the purity of each response that is the root of our inability to move the government to change. The reality of the world is that force, or the threat of force, is the prime language of persuasion between criminal and victim. Try keeping your property safe from a mugger by being passive. It doesn't work. But, without projecting indiscriminate violence, a mugging can be prevented through the implied threat of force: travelling in groups, unafraid eye-contact, hidden hands, etc. The unspoken possibility of forceful reaction makes the mugger look for an easier target. An entire society with that attitude makes the mugger look for a new line of work. Mass numbers, with a willingness to resort to or support the use of defensive force, seems to be the combination most likely to win. However, the mass numbers must be so great and the determination to hold their ground by all means so deep that they will overwhelm the ability of the government to marshal a successful violent response. The number of people who must turn out during protests must double, triple, quadruple. The liberty movement is not there yet. We must grow in numbers and activity. That can only happen by talking. It is not polite in American society to discuss politics. Only sports, American Idol, and DWTS are allowed. We must violate that cultural taboo and do the unthinkable: talk. We must induce our friends and neighbors to be incensed by government overreach. As our numbers grow, we must keep in mind that it is not merely the numbers, but the underlying threat of force that will give teeth to the movement. Ironically, a premature show of force will not help the movement. It will merely act as a lightning rod for the police as they make an example out of the unprotected few who put their lives on the line. We must get them to turn out and be physically present to show their support for liberty. Only then can the government and police apparatus be confronted. The confrontation with 'security' forces must result in the withdrawl of those forces if it is to intimidate them. Winning means holding the battleground and forcing the other party to vacate. If the mass movement is insufficient, and if their willingness to physically intimidate the police is not present, the state will win and the oppression will be worse than ever. So talk of using violence against the state to defend against the IRS, DEA, CPS or other agency, is doomed to failure and worse, until and unless a large mass of people are ready to take up our cause. We are not necessarily talking about civil war. In fact, I believe civil war is just a sign that the mass movement was activated too soon, before enough numbers were assembled. Civil war or violent revolution brings with it the very real possibility of something worse in place of the current government. Before we can confront the state, we must have numbers. To get numbers we must educate ourselves, then our neighbors, then have our neighbors educate their neighbors. Only when we have reached a critical mass can the tide of authoritarianism, militarism, police state fascism be turned back. So talk. Talk. Talk. Read. Talk some more. Maybe they'll be sick of you, maybe you'll be the crazy neighbor/friend/relative...until one day you're not anymore. One day, if your understanding of the world is correct, you are the seer, the leader, the inspiration, the teacher.

Ron and I have so much to be thankful for as we celebrate the holidays with our family this year.

I hope Ben Bernanke gets some rest over the next few weeks, because he'll need it when Ron takes over his monetary policy subcommittee!

Even though it has often kept us apart for long stretches of time, I've always been very proud to send “the Champion of the Constitution” to Washington to give voice to our principles.

And now one of our sons will be joining his dad in Congress!  I know Rand will do everything he can to protect our liberties, and I'm looking forward to seeing them together on Capitol Hill.

I'm also thankful for all you do to support the cause of liberty.  I can't tell you how much it means to Ron and me to know that so many people are out there doing everything they can each day to fight for freedom.

Ron Paul’s stunning landslide victory in the CPAC straw poll is an event that cannot be allowed to go to waste. Political moments this ripe are about as rare as the California condor, and Ron Paul would do us all an incalculable service if he would seize the day, and declare his intention to run in the 2012 presidential election. He needs to do this right now. Not next month, not next year, but now.
Just imagine the effect that an announcement of candidacy would do for the Paulian revolution right now. As the only declared candidate for president in 2012 and the winner of the CPAC straw poll, he would immediately garner widespread media attention. Not only would he be the only declared candidate at the moment, but he might even be the only declared presidential candidate for the next eleven months. To have the field completely free of challengers and a fearsome grassroots electioneering and fundraising machine already in place is the political strategist’s Holy Grail. All Ron Paul has to do is tell the world he is running in 2012, and his entire movement will spring to life without any challengers standing in his way.

The fear and loathing Ron Paul would instill in the powers that be cannot be overstated. In their terrified stupor, the Republican leadership would search far and wide to find a sufficiently servile sock puppet to trot out to oppose Dr. Paul. All they would find, however, is a Mormon version of Ted Kennedy, an old man from Arizona who is clearly off his rocker, and a woman who can’t figure out what she stands for, besides war. The situation for Dr. Paul would only brighten if the Republican National Committee were to push for an early announcement of candidacy from one of these clowns. Indeed, the best possible outcome for Dr. Paul and the movement would be to force the RNC’s hand to pick one of these idiots sooner rather than later. The front-running idiot at the moment is the Mormon version of Ted Kennedy who loves socialized medicine. Life would be good indeed if Dr. Paul could induce the RNC to throw its weight behind a man who supports socialized medicine. That would ensure a Ron Paul run against Barack Obama in 2012!
The paroxysms of fear that would grip the Obama administration would be equally great, because Ron Paul is actually committed to ending our murderous foreign empire. Obama won the last election on the “peace platform,” which was possible only because he was running against a crazy old man, hell-bent on even more war than Bush II. In such company, Obama looked like a “peace candidate.” In the company of Dr. Paul, however, Obama can be seen for what he is; namely, a card-carrying member of the same war party that includes Bush II. If Obama knew at this early point that he could possibly be facing Ron Paul in 2012, he would have to start changing his perpetual-war policies right now in order to stand a chance against the real “peace candidate” in two years. Nor could he continue to indulge in his lunatic Keynesianism-meets-corporatism economic policies, because Ron Paul the presidential candidate would publicly expose it all as the quackery it is. Ron Paul is Obama’s worst nightmare in 2012.

Perhaps most importantly, however, is the hope that his early announcement would give to the American people. For, without Dr. Paul as a candidate in 2012, we will be left with only the most cynical and dreadful of options. We will be faced with a so-called “peace candidate” who is wholly devoted to war, and a mainstream Republican candidate who is devoted to war coupled with torture and assassination. We will be faced with a socialist incumbent, and a mainstream Republican candidate devoted to corporate welfare and succoring the military-industrial complex. Without Dr. Paul in the mix, these will be our only options: war + socialism, or war + torture + economic fascism. There will be no hope for freedom and peace.
The need is great for you, Dr. Paul, and the moment will never be so ripe for you to announce your candidacy. Seize the moment and awaken the slumbering revolutionaries who are waiting for you to say the word and give them hope in 2012. The murmurs and whispers that you might run in 2012 will give way to a groundswell of support that will make the very Earth tremble. Please give us what we want and need in the depths of depression and war, the hope that liberty and peace can still be attained in our lifetime.

Ron Paul Questions Why Obama Daughters Haven’t Taken Swine Flu Vaccine

Despite declaring national emergency in response to H1N1 outbreak, President refuses to allow his own children to be inoculated with controversial shot

Congressman Ron Paul has questioned why, despite his efforts to encourage the general public to get vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, President Barack Obama has refused to allow his own daughters to take the swine flu shot.

Despite the fact that Obama on Friday declared a national emergency in response to the H1N1 outbreak, he apparently doesn’t deem it enough of a threat to have his two daughters vaccinated against the virus.

Such double standards have led media pundits to call for Obama to get his daughters vaccinated on live television, in an effort to encourage American parents to do the same for their kids. The swine flu vaccination program, which was initially intended to be a “mass” inoculation covering the entire population, has been rejected by a majority of Americans who harbor deep suspicions about dangerous additives contained in the vaccine such as mercury and squalene.

In a Campaign For Liberty video message, former Presidential candidate Ron Paul labeled the vaccination program a “failure,” and slammed Obama for failing to follow the same advice he gave to the nation.

“It’s interesting to note that the President’s children have not gotten their shots and the explanation for this is it hasn’t been available to them – now that’s a little bit hard to buy when you think that probably anything the President wants can be available for their children,” said Paul, adding, “So in a way he’s made his decision not to give his children these inoculations – so if he has freedom of choice on this, I would like to make sure that all the American people have the same amount of freedom of choice.”

Others have echoed similar sentiments. “Surely if there is a national emergency and if the President and First Lady of the United States wanted flu shots for their daughters, they could get them. It is certainly connected to our national security right? I mean the president needs to have his wits about him 24/7 not worrying over sick children. Could this instead be yet another case of “do as I say, not as I do” from the Obama administration?” writes Cathryn Friar.

Paul compared Obama’s hypocrisy to politicians who lobby for the virtues of public education yet in every instance educate their own children privately.

“The biggest champions of public education make sure their kids never get public education, they always get private education where there’s a lot better choices than the kind of system they’re promoting,” said the Congressman.

Obama certainly isn’t stupid enough to inject his own kids with the same toxic soup that he encourages the idiot public to receive, and will probably be keen on getting access to the special additive-free swine flu shots produced by Baxter International that have been made available for the elite.

As Spiegel Online reported earlier this month, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and government ministers received a mercury and squalene-free H1N1 vaccine. “The Vakzin [vaccine] does not contain disputed additives — contrary to the vaccine for the remainder of the population,” reported the newspaper. Soldiers in the German army were also given the adjuvant-free vaccine.

Employees of the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany also received the “green” inoculation after their president Johannes Löwer labeled the vaccine a greater threat than the virus itself. Löwer’s comment came after German lung specialist Wolfgang Wodarg said the vaccine increases the risk of cancer. The nutrient solution for the vaccine consists of cancerous cells from animals.

In the video update, Congressman Paul also warned that Obama’s emergency declaration on Friday was part of a plan to condition people to accept the notion of government as protector and coerce the public into complying with whatever they say, including forced quarantines.
